How often breastfeeding must be

The answer to this question is usually “as often as the baby wants.” As this can often cause nipple cracks do not breast feed from each breast more than 15 minutes on the first day.

It takes 5-20 minutes for the breast to fully discharge. However, some babies empty most of the milk in the breasts, so do not think that if your baby is not sucking it longer, your baby is hungry. If the baby sleeps or early releases the breast before changing the breast, remove the gas and continue feeding; because the thing filling stomach may be gas, not milk.

Babies should be fed 8-12 times a day, every 2-3 hours. For the first 3-4 weeks they should not be starved for 2-3 hours during the day, and for more than 4 hours at night.

Babies receive 750-900 gr in the first 3 months, 450-600 gr in 3-6 months, 300-400 gr in 6-12 months. If they suck 8-12 times and sleeps in between it means that it is feeding enough. If you think that milk in the breast is not empty enough, milk should be taken with pump and given to baby.
